Preparation And Application Of Salacia Korthalsiana Miq. (Polipog) Root Extract

Abstract

Salacia korthalsiana Miq. commonly known as Polipog, is a traditional plant used to treat different diseases. It is used as anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antimicrobial and others. The root part of the plant was used to produce an antimicrobial bar soap and liquid soap. It was tested to three different organisms for its antimicrobial efficacy. The polipog root also underwent phytochemical profiling. Results showed that polipog exhibited great antimicrobial efficacy against gram negative bacteria. These products were developed to solve the depleting sanitary items in the province of Northern Samar.
