Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on many sectors around the world, including home industry in Indonesia. The problem is that there are still many home industries who haven’t fulfilled that matter. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the specifications and product designs in accordance with consumer preferences. Empirical analysis has been carried out for this purpose. This research uses a qualitative approach with the support of quantitative data. Observation, interviews, literature study, survey and focus group discussion were conducted to collect data. The data obtained were used as input for Kansei engineering method, and then processed by Principal Component Analysis and VARIMAX factor rotation using SPSS 22. The study found 2 general factors regarding structural and functional design, with examples of product designs that match consumer preferences. Kansei engineering can help businesses to make product innovation. The results are among others useful for the home industry in designing products according to consumer preferences, so that the business is more developed.
