Anti-colonial underground resistance movement in Assam: A study on Quit India Movement, 1942

Abstract

Assam has a prolong history of anti colonial struggle since it became the land of colonial subordination. Although there were many phases of this anti colonial struggle however, it reached its height after 1920s. In this period simultaneously to the non-violent movement another way of protest of native people can also been seen in the form of underground resistance movement. Following the footsteps of national underground leaders, people of Assam had also been participated in different activities of this movement at different level during Quit India Movement. Since it was not an easy task for the leaders as well as volunteers therefore they had to face different difficulties in the course of the movement.
