Abstract

India is one of the fastest emerging economies in the world. It provides safe haven for investments. With LPG
the country provided required fillip for industrialization, thereby paving way for economic development. Mutual Fund
industry has become a good option for Investment in Indian Financial Markets where majority of middle class families
are those who want to get maximum return with minimum risk and tax savings. Increase in Private and Public sectors in
Mutual Funds Companies posed problems in selecting the right funds. Therefore , the study is to evaluate the performance
of various schemes of Mutual Funds and provide a guideline to the investors to decide the appropriate scheme for
investment based on risk-return analysis. For the purpose of this study Top 10 Asset Management Companies based on
their Assets Under Management have been considered for a period of 17 years. The Study focuses on evaluating the
performanace by using Sharpe ratio, Treynor ratio, Jensen Performance Index.
