Abstract

The warehouse is a place to store raw materials, packaging materials, and products that will be marketed by the company. The problem that often occurs is the uncertainty of demand. This has prompted the emergence of a policy by the company to implement an inventory system so that demand can be carefully anticipated. PT. SBF is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company with a high level of production. Often the products that come are always piled up in the warehouse. Because of this build-up of products, warehouse operators often move products onto shelves without classifying goods according to demand. This causes operators to have difficulty finding certain products to be distributed to distributors in the future. The search process is often time consuming. Based on these problems, the purpose of this study is to solve the problem of storage location using the ABC classification method. The percentage based on the number of types of products included in class A category was 14.71%, class B category was 20.59% and class C category was 64.70%. The results of this study are to apply the ABC classification method as a tool to facilitate product search with a layout based on the class of a product.
