Boratha Intersection Signal Design and Assess the Impact of Its Noise on The Surrounding Areas

Abstract

Traffic delay is one of the most important factors used in analysis highway, this study focused on
the level of service at the Boratha intersection, the change in Peak Hour Factor (PHF) and the level of noise
in the intersection. The information was collected from the intersection of Boratha and surrounding area. The
data was collected during 30 days and selected the higher traffic volumes in three days weekly. (Sunday,
Wednesday and Thursday) and during two periods from (7: 00 a.m.) to (10: 00 a.m.) and then from (1: 00
p.m.) to (4: 00 p.m.). It was noted that the traffic volume at this intersection given higher value on Sunday at
(1:00 p.m.) to (2:00 p.m.), in addition for the redesign of cycle time, it was get phase time signal (27.sec) for
Al Kadhimiya, (27.sec) for Al-Sarafiya, (39 sec) Almuthanna Airport and (27.sec) Rhmaniyah finally, also
observed that the traffic noise effected on the surrounding area as the high Db (Social Welfare House for the
disabled, Boratha mosque, Al.karkh general hospital, and Al- Nathal Secondary commercial school
respectively
