Abstract

An Adhoc wireless network comprises of dynamic, self-configurable and infrastructure-less network like Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET). It involves several mobile nodes allied without links. These nodes communicate with each other in the absence of an administrative point. However, due to its inherent features like bandwidth limitation, dynamic topology in the absence of centralized authority makes it further susceptible to assaults like DoS attacks. It has many kinds of attacks. One type of attack is Flooding attack in DoS. It avoids benign users from accessing to their authorised services. While broadcasting RREQ messages Reactive protocols like AODV is prone to RREQ flooding attacks. Hence in this DIDO-AODV paper an efficient scheme is proposed in the existence of RREQ flooding attack to have reliable route among the nodes identified as source and destination node and its efficacy stands authenticated by NS-2 simulator. An efficient FAI algorithm is proposed to mitigate and isolate alleged RREQ packets triggered by malevolent nodes. Each node cache counter is refreshed after a fixed time to enhance the better memory usage of mobile nodes. The results showing significant improvements during comparisons with other models with respect to PDR, Throughput, E2E Delay, RE and RL Also the algorithm easily identifies and penalized the attackers without sending any additional control packets (CH).
