Abstract

For the renewable energy system, it is essential to improve the performance of power electronic converters in the present scenario. There are many benefits available for the parallel combination of Differential Power Process (DPP) architecture, such as the ability to minimize losses and power converter rating. Hence, it can be built at the module level. In the present paper, a switched inductor has been added to the conventional DPP to enhance the performance of the converter and the mathematical model of the proposed converter has been derived. Consequently, the proposed converter suppresses the partial shading effects on the solar photovoltaic module. The required rating of converter power, which compensates for the possible mismatch of the system, is specified. The comparative study has been conducted at different irradiation levels for the DPP converter with and without a switched inductor.
