Effect Of Professional Learning Communities Factors On Teachers’ Efficiency In Secondary Schools: A Structural Equational Modelling Approach

Abstract

Many educational partners have made attempts to enhance teacher efficiency in professional learning communities (PLCs). The Maldivian government has developed many teachers excellence policies to enhance teacher efficiency. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the factors of PLC as antecedents of teacher efficiency in secondary schools in the Maldives. Data was collected from 271 secondary school teachers in the Maldives. SmartPLS SEM approach was used to analyse the data for the current studies. Findings of the study revealed that Teacher’s collaboration, resources, opportunities and social capital are the factors of professional learning communities. Further, the findings reveal that teacher’s collaboration, resources, opportunities and social capital have a strong influence on teacher’s efficiency. This study is one of its own kind and has not been previously tested in the present study context.
