Compensation of Load by an Adaptive Hysteresis Band Current Controller Using DSTATCOM
Abstract
The D-STATCOM is used for load compensation to enhance the power quality improvement in distribution system. By using of D-STATCOM the neutral currents, current harmonics can be eliminated and the reactive power under linear/nonlinear loads can also be compensated. The control method is used for extracting the reference source currents and to produce required gate signals for the voltage source converter of D-STATCOM by hysteresis band current strategy. An Adaptive hysteresis current controller is used to change the width of hysteresis band based on frequency of modulation, voltage of DC bus capacitor, voltage of supply, and the reference current wave slope of compensator. By use of MATLAB software, the D-STATCOM of a distribution system is verified for elimination of harmonics and load balancing.
