Role Of Hindi Cinema In Creating Awareness On Rare Diseases Among The People Of Ncr

Abstract

Indian cinema has contributed to the society immensely by taking issues prevalent in the society. Besides entertainment, it has also informed, educated and sensitized about important topics be it health or history. Hindi movies have played an important role in depicting the gravityof rare diseases that were not commonly known. It has influenced and helped in bringing out positive change in the society on such issues and hence, thorough academic research needs to be done on this contribution of Hindi Cinema as well. In this context, the paper describes the role of Hindi movies in creating awareness on rare diseases. A survey was conducted among the people of NCR along with the content analysis of six selected movies made on rare diseases to find how cinema influences the society. The study establishes the fact that cinema helps in creating awareness and bringing positive change among the people.
