Buddhist Integration Holistic Health Care For The Elderly In Thai Society

Abstract

In current situation of elder-age society and pollution are the causes that make people more concern of their health. The process of enhancing health and well-being was summarized into 4 types 1) Promotion is to use the physical development to strengthen physical health, the goal is that the elderly must have a good body 2) Strengthening by using the moral development to strengthen social well-being, the goal is for the elderly to have a good relationship, which is to live together with others in a good society. 3) Prevention using the emotional development to enhance mental health to provide a preventive approach, the goal is that the elderly must have a good thinking through mental training according to the Buddhist guidelines like the basic morality in living together in society. 4) Preparation by using the intellectual development to reinforce spiritual well-being, the goal is for the elderly to understand life through the process of correct thinking. The Buddhist Principle of Bhavana 4 or the 4 developments which are composed of 1) Physical Development, Moral Development, Emotional Development and Intellectual Development. All these Buddhist Principles made the balance of life, associated individual behavior and mindfulness to the natural environment and sustainable society.
