To consistently meet the demands for oil resources all over the world, it is essential to optimize the computational methods for oil seepage problems in reservoir. Variable separation method is a useful way to solve oil seepage problems and it is of great significance to strengthen the study of its usage in the solution of oil development problems. Take the underground oil seepage problem with complex boundary conditions in a rectangular area as an example, the accurate solution is obtained by using variable separation method in a step by step way. This study can be good reference for the application of variable separation method to solve more complicated underground seepage problems.
