Abstract

This collaborative classroom action research aims to improve protective behavior knowledge by using flashcard. There were 10 children of B graders of TK Batik Kudus as the participants. This collaborative classroom action research was conducted under theme My School. The research design consists of planning, acting, developing, and reflecting stages in each cycle. To devise the plan, a preliminary investigation was promoted. It was applied to obtain initial information of the participants. This research is deemed to have found the improvement once the targeted score is achieved. The average score in the preliminary investigation was 0.8 from the standard determined score. It improved in the first cycle into 1.3 or about 63% meanwhile in the second cycle improved into 2.3 or about 77%. The analysis based on each question item indicated better improvement on three aspects. The remarkable improvement was seen when only one type of flashcard was used as the responses to the designed questions. On the second cycle, according to the corresponding answers, they indicated how well the children developed protective behavior knowledge. The conclusion is - teaching protective behavior by targeting children would be better for them because the children would have decided better what to do.
